Cardi B’s breakout year won’t come with any
Grammys.
The 25-year-old lost both categories she was
nominated in to Kendrick Lamar. “Humble” beat
out “Bodak Yellow” for both Best Rap
Performance and Best Rap Song.
Best Rap Song:
“Bodak Yellow” — Dieuson Octave, Klenord

J White, songwriters (Cardi B)
“Chase Me” — Judah Bauer, Brian Burton, Hector
Delgado, Jaime Meline, Antwan Patton, Michael
Render, Russell Simins & Jon Spencer,

Jewels & Big Boi)

Williams II, songwriters (Kendrick Lamar) —
WINNER
“Sassy” — Gabouer & M. Evans, songwriters

“4:44” — Jay-Z

“Bad And Boujee” — Migos Featuring Lil Uzi Vert
Both categories were announced during the pre-
show.
Had she won, Cardi would’ve been the first
female rapper to win in either category. Missy
Elliot won Best Female Rap Performance back in
2003 and 2004 — but that was when the
categories were separated by gender. Missy also
won Best Rap Solo Performance in 2020 back
when they separated ‘solo’ and ‘group/duo’
performances.
